Orioles Power Rankings Roundup: Week 9
Below is a graph of where the Orioles have ranked over the course of the season.
And here is what Power Rankers are saying about the Orioles this week:
Orioles ranked 10th - "Do the Orioles strike out too much? O's batters are in the top 10 in strikeout percentage, but they're also 11th in the majors in runs scored per game. The O's could use better production out of Adam Jones and Pedro Alvarez, and if a healthy J.J. Hardy returns in June, he should help. "
Orioles ranked 6th - In Jonah Keri’s weekly power rankings he selects four teams to write about. Although your team was not chosen this week, Jonah’s work is well worth the read.
Orioles ranked 8th - "After a woeful spring, Hyun Soo Kim batting .333 in six-straight starts."
Orioles ranked 10th - "The Houston Astros swept the Baltimore Orioles at the start of last week, but Baltimore clings to a spot inside the top 10 thanks to a weekend series win over a good Cleveland Indians team.
It was another sketchy week from everyone in the starting rotation not named Chris Tillman, which has been the story for much of the year.
Tillman is now 7-1 with a 2.92 ERA, 1.129 WHIP and a .203 opponent's batting average. He's also contributed seven of the team's 20 quality starts.
Even with an offense that is piling up runs, this team needs to find consistency in the rotation behind Tillman to be taken seriously as contenders. For now, the Orioles sit a game back in the AL East standings, but simply trying to outslug your opponents is not a sustainable recipe for success."
