Power Rankings Guru — Terms of Use

By using the Site, or by creating a Power Rankings Guru account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Power Rankings Guru is an independent sports analytics website. We publish our own computer-generated power rankings, ratings, strength-of-schedule figures, win projections, playoff probabilities, and “dominance rankings” for professional and college sports.

We calculate these using proprietary Elo-style rating models and daily computer simulations (including Monte Carlo simulations) of the remaining season. Our rankings, projections, and probabilities are statistical estimates. They are not predictions we guarantee, and they can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date.

At launch, we cover the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAA college football, and NCAA men’s college basketball. We may add other leagues, tours, or competitions in the future (for example, tennis or golf), and these Terms apply to any league or sport we cover now or later.

You must be at least 21 years old to create a Power Rankings Guru account. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 21 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 21, we will delete it. You do not need an account, and there is no age requirement, to read the Site.

When you sign up, you tick a box confirming that you are 21 or older. We store only that you confirmed it; we never ask for or store your birth date or birth year. See our Privacy Policy for details.

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13.

You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google sign-in.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that happens on your account.

Accounts are for one person each. Please give accurate information when you sign up.

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or misuse the Site.

With an account, you can follow teams, see a personalized list of the teams you follow, and receive emails about those teams and about the Site. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on these emails.

The rankings, ratings, projections, probabilities, charts, text, design, and underlying data compilations on the Site are owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws.

You may use the Site and its content for personal, non-commercial use only.

Without our written permission, you may not: scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to bulk-download content from the Site; copy or republish our rankings or data in bulk; resell or commercially redistribute our content; or use our content to build a competing product or to train machine-learning models.

Short quotes from the Site are fine as long as you credit Power Rankings Guru and link back to powerrankingsguru.com — for example, citing a team’s ranking in an article or social media post.

The Site exposes data endpoints that the Site itself uses. Any use of these endpoints is subject to these Terms, applicable rate limits, and the same restrictions described in Section 6 above. We may block or limit access to these endpoints at any time, for any reason.

Some pages on the Site may show rankings or other content published by other websites, with credit to the source. That content belongs to those sources; we do not guarantee it and are not responsible for it. Links to other sites are provided for convenience only, and we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site.

Power Rankings Guru is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, the NCAA, any conference, any team, any players’ association, or any other league, tour, or governing body that we cover now or in the future. Team names, nicknames, logos, and league marks belong to their respective owners and are used on the Site solely to identify the teams and competitions being discussed.

We do not take wagers, offer odds for betting, or link to sportsbooks. Our rankings, projections, and probabilities are statistical estimates, provided for information and entertainment purposes only. They are not betting, financial, or professional advice, and they can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. Any decision you make based on them is your own responsibility.

When using the Site, you agree not to: attempt to break, overload, or bypass the Site’s security measures or rate limits; access another user’s account; create accounts using automated means; interfere with other users’ use of the Site; or use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We may change, pause, or discontinue any feature, any league or sport we cover, or the Site as a whole, at any time and without notice. Data, rankings, and projections may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site and its content are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Power Rankings Guru and its owners, officers, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the Site.

Because the Site and accounts are provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site is limited to fifty US dollars (US $50).

You agree to indemnify and hold Power Rankings Guru harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your misuse of the Site or your breach of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the updated Terms. If we make a material change, we will notify account holders by email or by posting a notice on the Site.
